Kurt Weiss presents at University of California, Santa Barbara
On October 18th, 2025, Kurt Weiss was the featured speaker at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The presentation in ME11, Introductory Concepts of Mechanical Engineering, was arranged under the direction of R&D Engineer and lecturer, Kirk Fields.
This year, Mr. Weiss’s presentation entitled, Traffic Collision Reconstruction: Gathering Evidence & Crash Analysis, included a demonstration of the devices her uses in the field, including a total station, digital scanner, and sUAS or drone. He explained the engineering principles, methodology, and software he often uses to reconstruct traffic collisions. His presentation featured numerous examples of real-world crashes, and explored in detail a traffic collision fatality involving a motorcycle and an SUV.
